This position is located in the Audiology and Speech Pathology Service at VA CWM, Leeds, Massachusetts. The duties and responsibilities are carried out throughout the medical center including all clinical and patient care areas involved with the service. Incumbent is a staff audiologist.

- Uses a wide range of knowledge of, and skill in applying, a wide range theories, principles, and methodologies in the practice of audiology to a wide range of populations.
- Knowledge of clinical services and the ability to perform them independently.
- Provides consultation to other health care professionals.
- Assists in the training and supervision of students, trainees, externs, and fellows, providing feedback on progress toward established educational goals.
- May be requested to service on service-level committees or task forces or to represent to service/section on medical center, network, or national committees.
- Follows applicable informed consent, HIPAA rules on privacy and protecting patient rights.

Basic Requirements: * United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. * Master's degree or its equivalent in audiology or hearing science from an accredited college or university is required. (Accredited" means a college or university accredited by a regional accreditation organization and an audiology program recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Audiology Education (ACAE) and/or the Council on Academic Accreditation of the American Speech- Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)). * For those grades that require licensure (GS-12 and above), the incumbent must hold a full, current, and unrestricted license in a State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia. * Audiologists must be proficient in spoken and written English
GS-09 Grade Level - This level serve in an Audiologist career development position.
GS-11 Grade Level -Completion of 1 year of professional experience as an audiologist equivalent to the next lower level; or 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a doctoral degree; or doctoral degree in audiology, hearing science, or a directly related field. Candidates must meet the following Knowledge, Skills and, Abilities. * Knowledge of contemporary audiology practice * Ability to communicate orally and in writing * Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, acoustics, applied acoustics, communication, psychoacoustics, and auditory/vestibular pathophysiology * Knowledge of principles and techniques in the assessment and treatment of auditory and balance disorders * Ability to perform functions associated with contemporary audiology scope of practice * Ability to interact with patients, families, and other health care professionals GS-12 Grade Level- completion of 1 year of professional experience comparable to the next lower level and possession of a full, current and unrestricted license to practice audiology. Candidates must meet the following Knowledge, Skills and, Abilities. * Ability to develop coherent treatment strategies * Knowledge of clinical services, and the ability to perform them independently * Ability to conduct assessments and provide treatment interventions * Ability to provide consultation to other health care professionals * Knowledge of contemporary audiology practice * Ability to perform functions associated with contemporary audiology scope of practice
