Entry Level Archaeologist
Dewberry Engineers Inc. (Dewberry) invites applications for a full-time, junior level, archaeologist position within their environmental group located in the Parsippany, New Jersey office. Candidates must have experience supervising and conducting field surveys in New Jersey and surrounding metro area. The qualified candidate must possess knowledge and project experience working with applicable federal (most specifically Section 106 and 110 of the National Historic Preservation Act), state regulations and New York City Landmarks review. Candidates must have conducted Phase IA, IB and II field investigations and previously authored compliant documentation for state and local level review. Job duties will entail: management of field staff, completing historic background research and regulatory reviews, archaeological field investigations and management, and final reporting. Qualified candidates should be well rounded within the field and able to perform each stage of investigation from field work to reporting. Established relationships with state and federal review agencies is a plus. Proximity to the metropolitan region preferred.
The qualified candidate must meet the Secretary of the Interior’s (SOI) standards for archaeologist.
Candidates must have a MA in anthropology, archaeology, and/or closely related discipline.
Candidates must have a minimum of 0-2 years of experience as a principal investigator and at least 0-1 years of professional in-field archaeology experience
Must be knowledgeable of federal, state and local field and reporting standards.
Proficiency with GIS software is preferred. Dewberry is seeking a qualified motivated individual who can make independent decisions, carry out a project through completion, and work closely under senior cultural resource staff.
