Berkshire Health Systems Education Specialist I - BHS in Pittsfield, Massachusetts

  • DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

  • An educator who assists in coordinating and teaching programs for all personnel in accordance with the mission and values of Berkshire Health Systems. Responsibilities include establishing objectives and content based on assessed needs, evaluating outcomes, and maintaining current professional knowledge. The primary responsibility is for the development of staff within the educator's assigned area or entity and assuring completion of mandatory education and competencies in these areas. This educator also serves as liaison between assigned area, education and other hospital departments and identifies needs for ongoing training in assigned areas. This educator offers select education within assigned areas to assure compliance with regulatory agency requirements.

  • POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)

  • Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience in an area of health care and specifically Support Services if assigned to that area. This will include demonstrated knowledge and understanding of all cleaning operations and processes, including but not exclusive to terminal cleaning, proper use and handling of chemicals and restorative cleaning.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and adherence to BHS Customer Service Standards and values.

  • Experience in assessing needs and development of staff, familiarity with relationship of infection prevention standards applicable to assigned areas.

  • Education and Training:

  • Level of knowledge typically associated with Bacehlors Degree.

  • Prior additional experience in education or service area may be a substitute.

  • Evidence of continuing education in Teaching principles such as Principles of Adult Education, teaching methodologies preferred.

  • License, Certification & Registration:

  • BLS Certification required.

  • BLS Instructor status preferred.

  • Crisis Prevention & De-escalation training and Instructor status required within 3 months of hire.

  • DOT preferred

  • Other Requirements:

  • Ability to work with people at all levels.

  • Ability to prioritize work and take direction. Flexibility and team orientation ability.

  • Demonstrated aptitude for teaching and mentoring.

  • Demonstrated ability to identify problems and work creatively toward improvement.

  • Familiarity and aptitude with Windows and windows based software applications.

  • Must be able to communicate in English both verbally and in writing in a clear and understandable manner.

  • Ability to teach and relate to a variety of age groups.
