Next Step Health Care Assistant Director of Nursing & Staff Development in Plymouth, Massachusetts
Plymouth Harborside Healthcare is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a full-time position as Assistant Director of Nursing & Staff Development.
The Assistant Director of Nursing & Staff Development (ADON/SDC) will assist the Director of Nursing Services in planning, organizing, developing and directing the day to day functions of the Nursing Services Department as well as coordinating, and evaluating educational programs for nursing services and other departments.
Job Duties include but are not limited to:
Participate in developing; maintaining and periodically updating written nursing policies, procedures, reference materials, manual, objectives and philosophies.
Assist in developing and implementing methods for coordinating nursing services with other resident services.
Participate in surveys and inspections by government agencies.
Ensure that all nursing services personnel are performing their respective duties.
Oversees the process for competency evaluation of new clinical department personnel, recommends progression to permanent employment or extension of orientation/probationary period for new employees.
Plans, organizes, and implements ongoing education and training programs for licensed nurses, nursing assistants, unit clerks, and other ancillary personnel to promote the knowledge and skills necessary for the provision of quality care consistent with services provided by the center.
Working with the Director of Nursing Services (DNS), ensures clinical competency of nursing staff through observed skills evaluation, and ensures completion of annual competency assessments for clinical personnel.
Develops and facilitates an orientation program for all facility personnel and contract personnel.
Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing and currently licensed by the state.
Previous experience in a hospital, long term care facility or other healthcare related facility.
Must be knowledgeable of general, rehabilitative and restorative nursing and medical practices and procedures and laws, regulations and guidelines governing long term care.
Completion of an Associate?s Degree in Nursing.
Valid CPR teaching certificate; IV Instructor Certification; Certified Infection Control Nurse; ACLS certification preferred.
Current with state Continuing Education (CE) requirements.
