Job DescriptionYMCA OF GREATER BOSTON: One to One Aid (After School)

The Parkway Community YMCA seeking a One to One Aid. This is a part-time job during the school year Monday-Friday, 4:00pm-6:00pm

Description of duties:

The One to One Aid serves as a source of support for the child to assist him/her in all of the camp activities and to engage the child in successful measures throughout the day while meeting the child’s customized needs.

  • Stays with and works with the child throughout the program day

  • Gives clear boundaries and is positive and consistent in behavior guidance; modifications do not mean that a child does not need to abide by the classroom rules

  • Is a facilitator between the child and other children

  • Assists the child in his/her daily choices

  • Ensuring breaks are created for the child when the child is getting tired.

  • Finds alternatives to meet the child’s needs

  • Works to meet daily duties/needs of the program and is responsible for making sure that materials are ready for use and put away at the end of the day.

  • Helps implement a variety of recreational and educational programs that emphasize group participation, character development, and awareness of cultural, educational, recreational, environmental and social issues.

  • Reports all accidents and unusual incidents immediately and assists with necessary documentation.


Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma

  • Minimum 1 year experience working with school age children.

  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.

  • Excitement and positive attitude toward working with children.

  • Must be motivated, energetic, punctual, responsible, patient, and exhibit a positive attitude to be an excellent role model for children.

  • Ability to lead, teach, and interact with children, parents, staff, and the community.

  • Some experience with diverse learners would be beneficial
