Philips Clinical Services Educator - In Home in Seattle, Massachusetts

Position Summary:

The Clinical Services Educator (In-Home) conducts an in-home demonstration and instruction of ordered respiratory therapy modalities. Educates the customer on the use of all ordered therapy systems and expecations for therapy. Provides clinical expertise during the sales process as a back-up for the Field Clinical Specialists as needed. The Clinical Services Educator (In-Home) has thorough knowledge of all applicable medical devices and ability to provide patient level instruction.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: (90%)

  • Works with corporate team to schedule an in-home demonstration within 1 – 5 days of receiving the training paperwork. Timing dependent on product selected.

  • Travels to the customer’s home for demonstration, instruction and discussion with patient/caregivers on equipment ordered.

  • Performs in-home safety assessment; product related. Identifies potential risks and discusses potential mitigation with patient.

  • Reviews all patient training materials provided to patient.

  • Conducts a step by step walkthrough of all features and operation of each device delivered. This includes explanation of all alarm systems built into the device.

  • Instructs patient in proper use of all back-up systems provided (if applicable).

  • Properly fits accessories as applicable. Takes measurements as needed.

  • Instructs on operation of device and associated accessories and performs a complete therapy session with patient (HFCC vest and Cough Assist).

  • Reviews proper equipment maintenance and cleaning of all devices/accessories.

  • Reviews troubleshooting procedures to be used for equipment malfunctions.

  • Discuss after hours procedures to follow for equipment related emergencies – product dependent.

  • Documents outcomes of training and completes training paperwork. Forwards completed paperwork to in-house team within 24 hours of completion of training.

Additional Responsibilities:(10%)

  • Provides clinical expertise to support the sales process, including visiting accounts with Respiratory Specialists as needed.

  • Assists with presentation of CEU programs offered through Respirtech.

  • Attend HIPAA training and other training sessions as they arise (HIPAA required annually).

  • Required to attend annual Trainer educational webinar and complete annual competency testing/evaluation and observation session per regulatory requirements.

  • Accepts after hours on-call rotation as assigned (if applicable).

  • Performance of additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal. Attention to detail.

  • Current Certification and active license as a Respiratory Therapist, or RN, in the state(s) in which patient home visits will occur. Must maintain certification in Basic Life Support through AHA, Red Cross, or other acceptable body.

  • Minimum 1 year experience in medical field as a Respiratory Therapist or RN.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license. Requires annual TB testing/proof of screening and documentation of Hepatitis B vaccination or signature on declination document.

  • Excellent ability to operate clinically in an independent environment.

  • Ability to problem solve regarding clinical applications in the home environment.

  • Must meet all ongoing annual educational requirements set by Respirtech.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Prior in-home DME experience related to respiratory therapy.

Physical Requirements of the Position:

Candidate must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds in one single movement. Bend, twist, and utilize the knees, back, arms, neck. Position requires the ability to speak clearly to instruct clients on use of medical equipment. Must be able to drive and maintain a valid drivers’ license.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience:
