Tri-Community YMCA EEC Certified Toddler Teacher in Southbridge, Massachusetts

Join our team of dedicated, energetic, creative, and caring early childhood professionals under the direction of the Supervising Lead Teacher. Work 40 hrs./wk. first shift, Monday through Friday, $14/hr. DUTIES: Provide direction for the toddler classrooms and implement curriculum Design and implement daily lesson/activity plans to support a developmentally appropriate curriculum Promote social, cultural, educational, physical and emotional growth Provide a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring Supervise the children, classroom, teacher assistants, and all activities Ensure care and safety of children at all times Make ongoing systematic observations and evaluations of each child according to the required schedule Conduct parent conferences; maintain positive relationships and effective communication with parents; engage parents as volunteers Maintain classroom and equipment Maintain required program records including attendance, medical, and food service records Post schedule, curriculum and menus according to regulations Attend and participate in family nights, staff meetings, staff training, and YMCA special events Perform additional duties as required to support overall mission of the Y and to ensure the success of the Child Care Department REQUIREMENTS: Associate Degree or evidence of enrollment in a college degree program preferred Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting and with diverse populations preferred Must have knowledge of and maintain NAEYC (National Association for Education of Young Children), QRIS (Quality Rating and Imrovement System) for child care programs, and DEEC (Mass Department of Early Education and Care) standards Min age 18 Must obtain and keep current, certifications in CPR, First Aid and Child Abuse Prevention Must have ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities and curriculum Must have ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds Must be able to physically participate in children?s activities and evacuation drills; to move around the classroom and playground; take neighborhood walks; and lift children Must present evidence of a physical examination and certification of good health every two years, as well as evidence of a negative Mantoux test, and immunity from measles, mumps, and rubella Must be able to pass CORI and physical Must complete online application
