City of Springfield After School Program Coordinator in Springfield, Massachusetts
Position Purpose/Summary Responsible for professional leadership in planning, developing, coordinating, and supervising a varied and comprehensive after-school and summer program. Work is performed with considerable professional independence in accordance with policy and accepted practices in the field of after school programs. Supervision is exercised over assigned part-time personnel. Essential Functions Develops and coordinates community involvement efforts with local civic and neighborhood organizations. Conducts budget management, development, reporting and monthly monitoring with Accountant. Assists program partners with scheduling, programming, budgeting and invoicing. Supervises programs that occur during after school hours. Orients and trains volunteers and paid staff on the nature of the program and operating procedures. Completes all necessary administrative paperwork including attendance and snacks forms. Submits recommendations for further program expansion. Makes weekly reports to the After School Director. Performs additional tasks as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Considerable knowledge of the philosophy and objectives of organized leisure activities. Knowledge of grant writing. Ability to plan, develop, and supervise a varied program of after school activities. Ability to stimulate interest in community programs. Ability to establish and maintain relationships with a variety of organizations. Ability to develop and maintain informational databases. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in a related field. Minimum of four years experience planning, developing, and evaluating programs and working with community organizations (i.e. PTO, Civic Assoc., etc.). At least one year of supervisory experience.
