Fetal/Pediatric Cardiac Sonographer Opportunity

The Department of Pediatrics, UMass Chan Medical School-Baystate and Baystate Children’s Hospital in Springfield, MA, is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated pediatric cardiac sonographer to join the Division of Pediatric Cardiology. Fetal cardiac ultrasound skills preferred but not required. The ideal candidate will be registered in at least 1 of the following modalities: adult echocardiography, pediatric echocardiography, and/or vascular ultrasound through ARDMS and practices at least 1 of the above listed modalities. The candidate will be expected to cover our level III NICU, PICU, and inpatient service as well as outpatient care at our state-of-the-art facility at Baystate Children’s Specialty Center. A strong commitment to collaboration, quality, and teaching are preferred as well as demonstrating excellence in knowledge and understanding of ultrasound physics, instrumentation, tissue characteristics, and measurements of blood flow, including biological effects of ultrasound. The candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of heart, vascular, and thoracic anatomy, heart and vascular pathophysiology, hemodynamics, and embryology. Cardiac surgeries, catheter-based interventions, and ECMO are not performed at this hospital and referred to Boston Children’s Hospital, 90 miles away.

Baystate Children’s Hospital is a 107-bed facility which provides complete critical care programs including the region’s only Pediatric Intensive Care and Neonatal Intensive Care Units, as well as pediatric inpatient services, a designated emergency room just for kids, and outpatient specialty services. Baystate Children’s Specialty Center houses 15 pediatric specialty services under one roof with focus on care coordination, comfort, and convenience for children and families.
