Position Summary:

RN Clinical Preceptor is a member of the site leadership team and reports to the RRT Team Lead. This RN works to develop strategies and maintain processes which support the orientation and training of novice and newly-hired clinical staff. Primary responsibility is precepting new and novice clinical staff to become independent and clinically competent members of the team; to ensure understanding of their role and function within the clinical team and to ensure staff are well-prepared to deliver CCA’s clinically-driven, consumer-directed model of care.


  • Monitor the new hire’s work processes and communicate progress to appointed supervisor; case management skills; competence with computer softwares; nurse/patient interactions; clinical competencies, communication with other healthcare providers and within IDT; documentation standards.

  • Develops and coordinates education experiences and clinical training for novice and newly hired staff on an individual and group basis and monitors progress of CCA Clinical Orientation Competency Program.

  • Develops individual training plans based on clinician’s needs.

  • Provides leadership with respect to identification and dissemination of culturally and linguistically appropriate health education. Supports nurses safely practicing to the full extent of their education and training.

  • Participates in and uses evidence-based research to identify strategies for improving professional development activities, nursing practice and patient centered outcomes.

  • Ensures educational activities are congruent with CCA’s mission, goals, values, priorities, and resources.

  • Assists adult learners to identify both their learning needs and the most effective activities to meet those needs.

  • Provides an appropriate climate for learning and facilitates the adult learning process by developing, planning, and presenting educational activities and directly/indirectly fostering the development of competence in the nursing staff.

  • With site leadership and HR support, completes 90-day performance evaluations of new RNs, LPNs and MAs and participates in performance management activities as necessary.

  • Upholds ethical principles in all aspects of practice.

  • Models behaviors that reflect affiliations with professional organizations as well as the community.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree, required.

  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred

  • At least 3 years of RN experience, required

  • At least 1 year of home care experience is strongly preferred

  • Must be an RN licensed in state of Mass, required

  • Experience as a case manager at CCA preferred

  • Must have at least 1 year experience as a nurse educator or similar teaching experience

  • Spanish speaking preferred
