Actalent Senior Organic Chemist in Tewksbury, Massachusetts

Description:

  • Participate in the production of Clinical Trials Materials (CTM) products

  • Supervise the production of CTM products

  • Participate in inter-departmental CTM-related meetings

  • Participate in the preparation of project prospectuses for new projects

  • Mentor, train and provide guidance to the CTM team

  • Assist the department manager with planning and scheduling for the group

  • Maintain the CTM labs with the required equipment and in good standing order

  • Participate in the production of an existing commercial-grade cGMP product as needed

  • Participate in regulatory audits as needed

  • Reports all incidents, safety hazards, or accidents to appropriate personnel

  • Attends mandatory safety education sessions to keep informed of changes regarding safety issues

  • This role also includes the development of new products as needed and the optimization or scale up of existing products. In addition to the chemistry responsibilities mentioned above, this role also includes the supervision and mentoring of other chemists in the group in coordination with the department manager.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on organic chemistry laboratory experience

  • Master’s degree preferred with a minimum of 2 years of hands-on organic chemistry laboratory experience

  • Experience with NMR, GC, HPLC and MS data interpretation

  • Minimum of 2 years of laboratory supervisory experience

  • Excellent communication, verbal and written, skills

  • Complete documentation with high level of accuracy

  • Regularly requires sitting, standing, bending and lifting or moving of up to 50 – 100 pounds

  • Requires use of handheld flame torch

  • In accordance with safety requirements, may perform packaging tasks in a hooded, controlled environment with personalized safety equipment

  • Employees work with hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals

  • Experience within a leadership role, a cGMP environment and/or GMP documentation is preferred
