What you will do...

The Specialized Skills Instructor is responsible for teaching communication, social and daily living skills to individuals with higher needs on the autism spectrum. This is a great opportunity to join a fun team who mentor individuals to enhance independence. Successful applicants will be creative thinkers who can adapt their own interests, such as art, music and health & fitness, to teach others new things.

  • The pay rate for this position is $16.97 per hour.

  • This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week.

  • The schedule is Monday - Friday from 8:00am to 4:00pm.

You can make a difference by...

  • Teach and support a group of young women with autism using a consistent and patient teaching approach.

  • Provide personal care and assistance to individuals consistent with both their physical needs and defined support plans. Must have the ability to adapt and make adjustments to techniques based on functional abilities and limitations. This includes complete familiarity with the profiles and histories of individuals supported and active signs that care and assistance follows their prescribed needs.

  • Participate in the development and direct implementation of the Individual Support Plan, shaping annual assessments and goals and attending team meetings.

  • Assess individual's training needs, cultivate descriptive teaching programs and monitor effectiveness through data collection.

  • Develop and implement community-based activities that promote independence, community inclusion, dignity, and respect while enhancing personal skill development.

Qualifications and Skills

  • High School diploma is required, a Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or a related field is preferred.

  • At least one year of experience supporting adults with developmental disabilities is preferred, a passion and dedication to supporting our people is a must.

  • A valid driver's license, acceptable driving record and reliable transportation is required.

  • Successful candidates will be required to complete a background check including references, CORI and fingerprinting.
