Brandeis University Assistant Dean of Students in Waltham, Massachusetts
Brandeis University seeks to hire an Assistant Dean of Students who will have oversight for student engagement initiatives that support vibrant, diverse, and inclusive campus life. This includes oversight and implementation of student activities, community engagement, leadership, and other opportunities that support student development at Brandeis. As a member of the Dean of Students team, the Assistant Dean also supports students on personal matters, responds to crises and behavioral issues, reaches out to emergency contacts/families if necessary, and represents the Dean of Students Office on various University committees and initiatives. Key Responsibilities: Oversight of student engagement and belonging initiatives including supervision of the Director for Student Engagement, strategic planning, and assessment. Serves as secondary advisor to the Student Union Executive leadership and as a Student Affairs liaison to the Vic and Bobbi Samuels ?63 Center for Community Partnerships and Civic Transformation (COMPACT). Assists Dean of Students Office in managing crisis situations involving undergraduate and graduate students, management and resolution of high level conduct cases/title IX cases, and student care cases. Serves in a consultative role to the formation of policy and practice of campus-wide programming and activities and continually analyzes work effort, budget resources, organization of services in relation to services to students. Oversight of budgets for all direct reports including Student Union activity fee. Serves as the lead for campus partners in developing a seamless approach to student events and engagement on campus. Support the Department of Student Engagement team in developing, implementing, and evaluating a formal student leadership program. This position serves in the Administrator on Call system for the university. Skills & Qualifications: MS/MA plus at least 8 years of experience in student engagement or other directly related experience; previous experience supervising professional staff. Experience working with student leadership development programs, student care, and assessment preferred.
