Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Admissions, the Assistant Director of Admissions at the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (GSAS) is a key member of the admissions team focused on graduate student recruitment. The Assistant Director is responsible for developing communications to engage prospective students, applicants, and incoming students, including drafting and updating messages through Slate (Technolutions). This position will support recruitment by organizing events, assisting with promotional materials, and promoting GSAS programs through regional and national fairs, virtual events, and webinars. The Assistant Director will assist with operational tasks such as processing admission decisions and responding to inquiries. Essential & Other Functions Marketing: Creates and manages communication plans for engaging prospective students, applicants, and incoming students. Drafts, edits, and updates communications for prospective students using the Slate (Technolutions) system, including tailored messaging for specific groups such as McNair Scholars. Works closely with the admissions team to enhance the Slate student portal. Implements website updates to improve the experience for prospects and admitted students. Acts as the main point of contact with our digital advertising agency and our Office of Communications. Must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively with team members, faculty, academic administrators, and students. Stay informed about industry trends, best practices in admissions, and changes in educational policies that may impact the recruitment process. 45% Recruitment: Collaborates with faculty and staff in academic units to support recruitment efforts, including assistance with events such as program-specific information sessions and open houses, as well as broadcast emails and basic promotional materials. Promotes GSAS programs, including doctoral, masters and non-degree offerings, through activities such as webinars, information sessions, and promotional events. Travels occasionally to attend regional and national recruitment fairs to attract high-quality applicants. Engages in virtual recruitment events and collaborates with the Admissions team to organize webinars aimed at promoting GSAS programs and increasing enrollment. Utilize data analytics to assess the effectiveness of recruitment strategies and make data-informed recommendations for continuous improvement. 30% Administration: Supports admission operations by processing decision letters, responding to inquiries from prospective students and academic administrators, and overseeing the collection and review of final student transcripts in collaboration with the Department Coordinator. Assumes additional operational responsibilities as needed. 25% Job Requirements: BA/BS required 2-5 years of related experience required Experience with Slate (Technolutions) preferred. Some travel required. Position involves sitting, movement and occasional lifting up to 25 pounds to carry and set up boxes of information at recruitment fairs, etc
