Brandeis University Assistant Director, Financial Aid in Waltham, Massachusetts

Brandeis University seeks to hire an Assistant Director, Financial Aid to review financial aid applications and award aid in accordance with federal, state and institutional policies. Responsible for determining student eligibility for both Federal Methodology and Institutional Methodology, performing verification, responding to appeals, maintaining accurate financial aid records and counseling students and parents on all aspects of the financial aid process. Also responsible for one or more program responsibilities. Examples of Key Responsibilities: Performs need analysis using both Institutional and Federal Methodologies for incoming and returning students; and awards institutional and federal grants, loans, scholarships, and work study according to University packaging policies and federal guidelines. Verifies matriculated and returning students using tax returns and all other required documentation.. Responsible for counseling students and families on all aspects of financial aid awards including alternative financing options and special circumstances. Also, presenting financial aid appeals to the Appeals Committee, which consists of all financial aid staff, and reviewing and adjusting aid according to the decisions made by the Committee. Responsible for counseling borrowers regarding all aspects of loan repayment, deferment and consolidation. Manages counseling students and families on all aspects of financial aid awards, as well as advises them about financing options. One or more of the following program responsibilities as assigned: Federal Pell Grants, MA and all other State scholarships, restricted and unrestricted endowed scholarship assignments, CA Stipends, tuition remission, study abroad, financial literacy, FAFSA processing, including corrections, and data loads from SAGE to financial aid software. Other Duties as Required. Skills & Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required. Three years of direct experience in the delivery and administration of student financial aid preferred. Experience using PowerFaids preferred. Must have strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
