Brandeis University Associate Director of the Community Enga in Waltham, Massachusetts

Brandeis University seeks a one-year, part-time, 9-month (August 16, 2022 through May 31, 2023), .4FTE position as the inaugural Associate Director of the Community Engaged Scholar Program (CESP) and Lecturer reporting to the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in the School of Arts and Sciences. The Associate Director will also work closely with the newly established Samuels Center for Community Partnerships and Civic Engagement (COMPACT) to support the CESP program. The position combines teaching and program administration. Qualified candidates should upload a cover letter and c.v. as one pdf. Teaching: CESP 10a-Foundations of Community Engagement (Fall and Spring): This 4-credit introductory course is required of all students in the CESP program and will be taught every fall and spring. The course introduces students to the theory, practice and ethics of community-connected teaching, learning and research. In addition to teaching, this position may include the following service: Implementation of CESP academic program, with guidance from CESP advisory committee: Creating annual curricular plans, including selecting electives and identifying needs for new courses; Managing recruitment, onboarding and cohort-building of new students through creation of web/online resources; Identifying faculty partners to participate in CESP curriculum and programming. Program development, including: Conducting outreach to and advising students who are interested in the CESP program; Fostering relationships with potential CESP community partners; Creating an enrollment/selection process for students; Proposing criteria for ?community engaged? course designation. Marketing and promotion of CESP to students, faculty, staff, and the greater Brandeis community, through social media, the CESP website, admission/orientation events, etc. Required credentials: Master?s Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Education, Social Sciences, Public Health) 1-3 years of experience working with/in/for a Community Based Organization (CBO) or Non-governmental organization (NGO) and/or as a community organizer 1 year teaching experience in higher education Preferred credentials: PhD Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Education, Social Sciences, Public Health) 3-6 years of experience working with/in/for a Community-based organization (CBO) or Non-governmental organization (NGO) and/or as a community organizer 1-2 years teaching experience in higher education Experience with academic program development Closing Statement Brandeis University is committed to providing its students, faculty and staff with an environment conducive to learning and working and where all people are treated with respect and dignity.
