Brandeis University Instructors - Navigating Health & Safety in Waltham, Massachusetts
Brandeis University seeks to hire Fall 2021 instructors to teach sections of Navigating Health and Safety, a six-week module for new or incoming undergraduate students. Instructors will teach at minimum one section per module, but have the option to teach multiple sections. Additional duties include completion of a 6-hour instructor training and 2 check-in meetings per module with a supervisor or program coordinator. The Navigating Health and Safety course content includes instruction in health and mental health issues, including substance education, and sexual assault prevention. This course is a requirement for all incoming Brandeis undergraduate students. Instructors will facilitate an existing curriculum developed by Brandeis? Office of Health and Wellness Promotion (HAWP) and the Prevention, Advocacy, and Resource Center (PARC). In addition to your resume and in lieu of a cover letter, please respond to the following questions in 2-3 sentences each: This course is required of all new or incoming Brandeis students (primarily first year students and transfer students). What steps would you take to ensure all students in your course can equitably engage in the content, thinking especially about international students, students with accessibility needs, and students of color? Why do you think it is important that students are being required to grapple with material around mental health, alcohol and drugs, consent, and bystander intervention? If selected for this position, you would be required to attend a 6-hour instructor training to take place Thursday, August 13th and/or Friday, August 14th based on instructors? collective availability. What is your availability between 8am and 8pm on those dates? (If many qualified applicants are unavailable on these dates, an additional training date may be scheduled; your availability on these dates will not disqualify you from the position.) These courses will likely be offered in both in-person and online (asynchronous) options. If hired, are you willing/open to teaching both in-person and online? Which option would you prefer?
