About the Position The Brandeis Teacher Education Program seeks an Instructor for the undergraduate course: ED 104a Pedagogy in the Discipline: Teaching & Learning MATHEMATICS. This is a four credit course to be taught in Fall, 2024. The course meets in the late afternoons, once per week for 3 hours for a full semester. There is some flexibility to meet twice per week instead. This appointment is to a position that is in a collective bargaining unit represented by SEIU Local 509. About the Course This is a teaching methods course for students who are pursuing a license in teaching math grades 6-12; it is also open to graduate students interested in teaching in post-secondary education; and math majors curious about teaching and learning. In conjunction with the course, students have the option of engaging in classroom fieldwork, so there may be opportunities to work with students in the field. Brandeis Teacher Education instructors model the pedagogy that they expect from future educators and integrate the four themes of the program: Teaching for Social Justice; Teaching ALL learners; Teaching for Understanding; and Teaching as Inquiry. About you . . .Qualifications This position would be ideal for you if you are already engaged in teacher preparation, or if you are interested in moving from pK-12 teaching into teacher education. To thrive in this position, applicants would need to demonstrate their: ? Commitment to furthering justice in education. ? Substantive (5+ years) math teaching experience from a student-centered and inquiry-driven stance - preferably in MA public middle/high schools. ? Facility with current scholarship, policy, instruction, assessment, and students in middle/high schools. ? Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating with both university and secondary school faculty. ? Educational preparation: Master?s degree or PhD in education ?
