VHB Landscape Architect in Watertown, Massachusetts
ABOUT THE POSITION
Under moderate supervision, the Landscape Architect, performs a variety of assignments requiring the application of standard landscape architectural techniques. Exercises limited independent judgment evaluating, selecting, and applying standard landscape architectural techniques, procedures, and criteria to make minor design adaptations and modifications. Working within an extremely supportive team, you will assist in developing aesthetically pleasing and functional site designs from concept to construction for a variety of private and public landscape architectural projects (e.g., retail, single- and multi-family residential, corporate campuses, mixed use developments, academic buildings, streetscapes, parks, plazas, public spaces).
Prepares landscape design drawings and related project documents (e.g., sketch-up models; illustrative plans, sketches, and cross-sections by hand and computer).
Analyzes design and construction systems, design layouts, and construction features, which require researching, compiling, and recording information for assigned project work.
Develops planting plans and technical details.
Writes project specifications.
Prepares estimates of probable construction costs.
Conducts site and construction inspections for information gathering purposes, preparing interpretive reports for review and approval.
Prepares graphics for presentations.
Performs job functions in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and company policies and procedures.
3+ years of experience in a design/landscape architectural setting, whether through coursework or professional experience
BLA (or graduation pending) from an accredited Landscape Architecture Program
Internship experience preferred
Skills & Knowledge
Practical knowledge and understanding of concepts, practices, procedures, and methodologies in Landscape Architecture.
Knowledge of hardscape and softscape design (i.e., plant identification; plant selection; horticultural and arboricultural practices).
Familiarity with sustainable design practices preferred.
Familiarity with relevant federal, state, and local regulations and agencies preferred.
Experience using industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD, Sketch-up, Adobe Creative Cloud, ArcGIS, MicroStation) preferred.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong 3-D design and rendering skills
