Responsibilities:

Communication of Welding Standards, API 1104 welding procedures, general industry equipment and trouble shooting in the field of welding

Support field operations and construction in determining employee technical training needs, assists in developing effective training programs using internal and external sources, and conducts training courses.

Interfaces with engineering, technical support, customer service and manufacturing to ensure that course material reflects current standards and best practices.

Responds to internal requests for training and participates in consultations with internal personnel to determine training needs; helps to develop effective training programs using a combination of training methods such as hands-on training, videos and lectures; monitors and evaluates the training program effectiveness.

Responds to contractor requests for qualification and requalification; participates in consultations with internal personnel to determine evaluation needs. Interfaces with engineering and construction to determine specific evaluation processes.

Perform destructive testing in accordance with DOT, API 1104 and applicable industry standards.

Support Curriculum development teams in fields of expertise

Participates in follow-up activities to determine the effectiveness of training programs.

Provide Training / Qualification on Tapping pipelines, Weld Inspection and distribution technical training programs.

Designs methods to periodically test and evaluate technical employees to assess the qualifications of the employees in performing their duties.

Identifies and evaluates public and private technical educational opportunities, such as vocational schools, that are available for the company to use in training its technical employees.

Evaluates new technological training opportunities and coordinates their effective use by field area employees.

Assist areas in preparation for commission projects and audits. Collaborate with standards and compliance leaders, peers, and local operations to prepare preventive strategies to eliminate repeat offenses.

Support Compliance Management Team with investigations and responses to Commission/DOT on reportable incidents.

Participate in and provide technical expertise in investigations of NOPVs and support strategy for mitigating potential fines.

Perform work site visits and audits to ensure welding operations meet Columbias and API welding standards on internal and external welders.

Verify welders hold the proper NGA and Columbia Operator Qualifications and are in current status

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Required for Selection:

Demonstrated safety excellence

Experience/Qualified in natural gas welding operations.

Experience delivering effective technical training evaluation programs.

Familiar with federal and state gas pipeline regulations

Excellent communications skills

Excellent presentation skills

Excellent interpersonal skills

Knowledge of basic PC applications/skills

Demonstrated skills in organizing, scheduling and planning work for a large group of employees

Demonstrate flexibility to change and adapt quickly to changing work environments

Experience in managing outside vendor relationships

Valid Drivers License.

Preferred for Selection:

Industry Welding or Tapping certification a plus

Experience tapping large diameter pipelines with TDW or Mueller equipment a plus

Supervisory experience or demonstrated leadership skills.

B.A. or B.S. and/or other technical related certifications

Facilitation Skills

Working knowledge of operations support systems, i.e. LMS, WMS, MDT, etc.
