Plumber And Steamfitter II - (250001XR) Western Massachusetts Hospital, part of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH), is seeking a dedicated Plumber and Steam Fitter to join a team dedicated to keeping essential hospital systems running smoothly. This role is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of water, sewer, and wastewater distribution systems, ensuring the hospital?s plumbing infrastructure operates safely and efficiently. From inspecting steam lines and pumps to maintaining propane tanks and radiators, this position plays a critical role in the facility?s daily operations. Staying ahead of potential issues, following a preventative maintenance schedule, and ensuring compliance with local and state plumbing codes are all key aspects of this role. This position offers the opportunity to work hands-on with a variety of plumbing systems, including deionized water systems, natural gas distribution, and industrial cafeteria equipment. The role also involves procuring necessary supplies, managing vendor proposals, and participating in maintenance on-call duties. Ideal candidates should have experience troubleshooting complex plumbing issues, a keen eye for preventative maintenance, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and functional environment for staff and patients alike. Please note: The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm with days off being Saturday and Sunday. Required Qualifications: ? Proficiency in using a variety of hand tools and equipment for plumbing, including wrenches, hammers, saws, pliers, blowtorches, soldering equipment, and gauges. ? Strong knowledge of plumbing materials, including steel, malleable iron, cast iron, galvanized iron, and glass, ensuring proper selection and application. ? Understanding of plumbing principles, methods, and techniques, including steam fitting, to support system installations and repairs. ? Familiarity with safety practices, procedures, and regulatory requirements governing plumbing operations. ? Ability to interpret and apply plumbing laws, rules, and codes to ensure compliance and system efficiency. ? Physical capability to stand for extended periods while performing hands-on plumbing tasks. Preferred Qualifications: ?
