WESTHAMPTON PLEASE SEE WEBSITE FOR FULL JOB DESCRIPTION Director of School Health Services QUALIFICATIONS: Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts (minimum BSN) with certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid Professional Licensure with DESE required Experience in health education, public health, and professional nursing, preferred Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable REPORTS TO: Superintendent of Schools JOB GOAL: To coordinate all clinical aspects of the comprehensive school health/ nursing program; to support the alignment and implementation of a PreK-12 health curriculum across schools; to facilitate district crisis team meetings and ensure that safety protocols are in place that align with police/ fire standards PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Program Management Collaborate with community agencies to develop funding and programming opportunities; write grants and administer the use of grant funds for health and safety related programs Oversight and management of school crisis teams, ensuring that emergency procedures are in place and practice drills occur in coordination with police and fire Collaborate with the District Physician, Health and Counseling Staff, and Administration to develop and implement written policies and procedures for clinical services and programs addressing health issues Prepare and track completion of all mandated annual health training for district staff Update standing orders and oversee medication administration and submission of School Based Medicaid reimbursement; coordinate training, as necessary Update and submit Medical Emergency Response Plans to DESE for all district schools. Ensure compliance with Massachusetts Department of Occupational Safety/OSHA standards as it relates to custodial and food service practices Provide support to cafeteria staff with audits and corrective action plans as they relate to wellness or health related policies and procedures Collaborate with Athletic Dept (Athletic Trainer and Director of Student Activities) in tracking compliance with and offering training opportunities for CPR certification and Mandated Concussion Training for athletic coaches Attendance at all District Administration Leadership Team meetings, including one before school begins Attendance at School Committee meetings as requested Health Services/ Nursing+ Ensure health office nursing coverage for all district schools. Will act as primary per diem nurse during nurse\'s absence, when possible Complete and submit required MDPH reports and documentation Observe, supervise and evaluate all school nurses; offer support as needed Assist principals in hiring and orientation of nursing staff as needed, and oversee hiring and supervision of per diem nurses Ensure that nursing supports are in place for special education summer programming, field trips, and transportation Coordinate professional development opportunities for school nurses Health Education Keep abreast of trends, developments, research, and evidence-based best practices pertaining to health, education, and school safety Facilitate the development, alignment and implementation of a comprehensive PreK-12 health education curriculum Community Health and Safety Facilitate quarterly Wellness Committee meetings Serve as a liaison in developing networks among schools, communities, and human service agencies; provide resources on the district website. Work in collaboration with local and state public health officials Responsible for maintenance of all district schools\' AEDs and affiliation agreements.
